Of the above positions, only the first two are expected to grow in need while the others either stay the same or decrease. I have had experience as a field journalist and it was exciting, but the statistics are correct in that it wasn’t very well paying overall. As a content curator and creator there is more opportunity to grow into higher paying positions – like content management. I would be more interested in this type of position than continuing to do reporting myself. I believe that these jobs could led to career growth as a communication major is able to find and create stories, develop a read for what is good content, and understand the public response to content. From there, management content in either a newsroom or a business setting could be a fruitful career. My personal interests currently lie in creating and curating content for small businesses. I hope this leads to a position helping develop content for organizations that are working in the private sector to improve the lives of people in communities that need it most.
